They are caring, compassionate people who demonstrably prioritize the dignity of our daughter and encourage her agency and autonomy in everything they do while ensuring she is safe and happy. They help her explore our city and enjoy her life ignoring and conquering both perceived and real barriers in the process. As a father of an 18 year-old non-verbal young woman, I could not offer a more compelling and resounding endorsement of these ladies and their relentless approach to providing a safe, enjoyable, and, perhaps above all, respectful place where our daughter is afforded the care and support she should rightly expect. "Our daughter Emily stayed with Kay, Stacey and Lorrae for about 3 years 2 nights per week. This was a lux time for myself and Hubbie as Emily has Insomnia.
This would have been tough on those supporting Emily in the house but never did they complain. They were amazing in their support.
They are all genuine caring people who really do become Emily's family and ours too.
I struggled to trust the respite houses around but this is different. If you are looking for a family to be part of, then you have found them. They understand disability. Emily has complex needs but she was always made to feel supported. They get it.
Safety, love, warmth, care, fun, reliability, and support in helping Emily complete daily life skills. Communication to mum was excellent too. Stacey and Kay always go the extra mile. I Couldn’t ask for better.
Emily now lives in her own home with support but we still remain in close contact and will forever. We love Kay, Stacey and Lorrae."
